There is so much I could say about this Crown of mine. She is multidimensional and multi-faceted. She is smart and strong. She braves all elements – rain, snow, wind but she is my sunshine. She is beautiful, she is unique, she has a heartbeat that carries life in every coil and curl. We are connected – I am, she. We have been through many stages – ups, downs, tied every which way possible. Still like the Goddess she is, she rises and bounces back.

I’m coming up on my year anniversary of being fully natural! Over the last year my mane hasn’t consumed any chemicals, received a small amount of heat, and upholds plenty of protective styles. We have spent many hours deep conditioning, twisting, and shopping for products to properly care for my hair type. This journey has become deeper than hair, it’s truly a reflection of my life over the past year. One word that can describe my journey is transformative. Even with feelings of sadness, fear, unknowing, and pain. I made it through with courage, self-love, and acceptance of renewed change.

So, when I say don’t touch my hair understand it means much more than you’ll ever know. She is a mirror of my Ancestors and the Milky Way. It’s a privilege to even look upon her with eyes and minds that could never fathom her unique precious beauty. She is happy, healthy, and thriving. She is light and love. She is my pride and joy x
